I recently attended the 2012 IFDA (International Food Distributors Association) trade show in Las Vegas. What I kept hearing from distributors is that they need a strategy to effectively plan for the future and a reliable mechanism for achieving new efficiencies in their operations as they face a bleak outlook for growth in their industry. That’s why they attend this show to learn from others, test new technologies and explore new possibilities.
West Monroe Partners was present and had the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges and concerns that face distributors across the country. For many distributors, finding the right labor management software is daunting because of cost and complexity. And, without the right engineered labor standards in place, distributors can’t effectively use the labor management technology at their disposal.
At the conference, West Monroe presented jointly with Sysco on how Sysco has improved productivity in their distribution network and enhanced their decision-making process through discrete labor measurement systems.
I work with Sysco and distributors facing these and similar challenges every day. What’s keeping you up at night? Are you interested in learning what else you can do to improve productivity in your distribution network? If so, contact me and let me know.
