I recently spoke with our new technical recruiter, Amy Colcomb, and she asked me the single most important question for recruiting: what makes us different? West Monroe Partners does a lot of things differently than other consultancies, but there are three things that stand out in my mind.
- We experiment anything can be attempted. A young consultant can have an idea and can get a shot to make it work. They won’t get shut down for trying something new once they make a case. The caveat is that they must also socialize the idea and get buy in, but that instills accountability which is hugely important in consulting.
- We embrace diverse backgrounds. We have offices all over North America including industry practices, technology practices, and business transformation practices. Our people can get totally different perspectives by asking the person next to them what they think. The also helps our people grow their career here instead of making lateral moves out.
- We have technical chops. Our background as a firm has been rooted in the implementation/execution and we love rolling up our sleeves. We live for the cutting edge. We push each other to stay sharp.
